The men's national diving team won a gold medal and a silver medal in the 3-meter trampoline competitions held at the La Videna Aquatic Center, in the Ayacucho-Lima 2025 Bolivarian Games.
The couple composed of Juan Travieso and Jesús González shone with their own light as they stood out during the joust that brought together the region's greatest exponents of the sports discipline.
Connected duo
The national divers, who debut as a duo in the current Los Angeles 2028 Olympic cycle, totaled 339.30 in their synchronized score to win against Colombia, which accumulated 335.58 and the third place went to the Peruvian duo with 258.93.
“Although we have little time practicing this synchronized modality together, we forged a great connection. We managed to perform in the best way in the competition and obtain this result for the country,” González commented on his first competition in the duo modality in the Bolivarians.
Naughty doubled
Earlier, in the individual category of this event, Travieso made jumps that took him to second place on the podium with a final score of 355.65, behind Colombian Miguel Esteban Tovar who led the event with 405.65.
“I started with a simple first jump, because it usually turns out to be the most difficult to complete. Then I lost my nerves a little more and finished with a stronger jump that allowed me to win the silver medal,” said Travieso, a native of Barquisimeto, Lara state.
The men's 3-meter trampoline podium was completed by Chilean Donato Alejandro Neglia with 350.05. While the Venezuelan González also finished in fourth position with 328.00.
The Bolivarian Games diving program continues on Saturday and Sunday with the 1- and 3-meter trampoline competitions, in addition to the 10-meter platform.
