CNAC will have 100% of FONPROCINE's funds to promote the audiovisual industry

The National Autonomous
Cinematography Center (CNAC) will have all the revenues from the Film
Promotion and Financing Fund (FONPROCINE), as of the entry into force, on August 1,
of Presidential Decree No. 5,391 for the orientation of
resources towards public policy in the country's audiovisual industry.
This was announced by the Minister of
Popular Power for Culture, Raúl Cazal, during a press conference with the
Deputy Minister of Audiovisual Culture, Miqueas “Piki” Figueroa; and the president of the CNAC, Román Chamorro, reviewed a note from the
Cazal also indicated that the decision is
part of the process of strengthening Venezuelan cinema, a joint effort.
“Everything that is being done right now seeks to return the
normality that the CNAC and the film sector had, through the restitution
of resources from the box office and other parafiscal tributes,” he said.
She said that the president in charge,
Delcy Rodríguez, has highlighted the importance of the cultural industry for the
growth of our artistic expressions, especially that of cinema. At the same time,
he welcomed the presidential decree as a fundamental contribution “for the
reconstruction of Venezuela”, which “also needs the production of
our stories.”
For his part, Chamorro specified that, thanks
to Presidential Decree No. 5,391, as of this moment, the CNAC has
“full power to execute public film policy and to restore normality in
the sector (...). At this moment we are considering returning to the
path of rebirth”.
He took the opportunity to reaffirm the
commitment of the CNAC to the execution of the Screens of Hope project, an
initiative of the MPPC within the framework
of the program The Route of Hope, for the projection of works and the dissemination
of values in communities.
