The filmography of Venezuelan filmmaker Luis Alberto Lamata will be the focus of a master class organized by the National Autonomous Center for Cinematography (CNAC), which will be held this Thursday, February 19 at the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies Rómulo Gallegos (CELARG), in Caracas.

The activity is part of the Chair of the History of Cinema and its Exponents, an academic space aimed at analyzing the creators and works that have marked the Venezuelan audiovisual identity. In this session, the focus will be on the relationship between cinematographic narrative and historical memory present in Lamata's work.

The class, entitled “Luis Alberto Lamata and History”, will be taught by journalist and teacher Antonio Núñez Aldazoro, winner of the National Journalism Award 2024, who will discuss how the director brought key events and characters from the Venezuelan past to the screen.

During the day, emblematic productions such as Jericó, Miranda Returns, Azú, Bolívar, the Man of Difficulties and Carabobo, Caminos de Libertad, films that consolidated Lamata as a reference for historical cinema in the country, will be reviewed.

The event will be held in Theater Room 2 of CELARG, between 3:00 and 5:00 in the afternoon, in person. Those who wish to participate in this activity, aimed at film students, historians, filmmakers and interested audiences, must register through the link on the Instagram account @cnac_ve.
