The National Dance Company (CND) celebrated the International Day of Dance with a gala in the Juana Sujo room of the Artist's House, in Caracas, under the motto “body - movement”, on a day that brought together various groups from the country.

The event was attended by the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Raúl Cazal, and the president of the CND, Anaisa Castillo, together with authorities from the sector.

During his speech, Cazal highlighted the value of dance as a meeting space. “Dance is the place where we all find ourselves with the party, with joy (...) it's the ability we have to use our bodies to be in the territory,” he said.

He also stressed its importance as an identity element. “We can proudly say that we have our own wide and vital dance that celebrates life and our Venezuelanism, ” he said.

The reading of the national message was given by teacher Betty Mendoza, who highlighted dance as an essential expression of the human being. “Everything is movement (...) that's what humanity is: bodies that dance,” he said.

The program included pieces such as “Between Heaven and Earth”, “Milord”, “Songs”, “The Origin of Species”, “Song of Simple Truth”, “Rupture”, “Cambote” and “Joropo Sabanero”, in a journey through different choreographic aesthetics.

The commemorative agenda will continue with free admission functions in various spaces in Caracas, including presentations at the Central University of Venezuela and the Teresa Carreño Theater, as part of the celebration established by UNESCO every April 29 in honor of Jean-Georges Noverre.
