The person responsible for the National Electoral Council (CNE) for the technical aspects and security shielding for the Presidential Election, Carlos Hernández, reported that “the CANTV network will be isolated to prevent external access to the servers.”

This was stated this Monday, July 15, during the auditing process of the Electoral Technological Infrastructure and Production of Voting Machines, he reviewed a note published on the Latest News portal.

“This network will be totally isolated, we have no communication with the world; the CANTV network is assigned only for this use that day of the event,” the technician explained when consulted by a representative of the MUD, regarding the possibility of hackers entering the operating system.

He said that the probability of an external element having access “is far from probable” and in this regard a battery of tests has already been carried out, which has revealed that “some details that were solved”.

The process of explaining the methodology to be used was carried out by Carlos Hernández, who detailed what was related to machines, cables, suites, ways to authenticate data, among other aspects.

The broadcast of the activity in front of representatives of political parties was broadcast via YouTube.

Hernández explained internal network security measures, data traffic, servers and internal monitoring, and the use of technological alarms.

He indicated that the servers are configured so that they do not communicate with each other through the ports and it is also determined which user enters the operating system, and an alarm is issued if an irregularity is detected.

In addition, standards are established to determine misuse, he said.

The updates are carried out, he specified, under explicit surveillance by the staff, to prevent a malfunction and ensure that the software works properly on the day of the electoral event.

With regard to data and applications, the platform is designed so that only duly authorized users can have access.

He also said that “there will be a history” of all the activities that take place during the electoral event. “The actions that have been carried out by users or by the system will be recorded”, among others.
