CNU unanimously approved agreement in defense of national sovereignty

In a regular session held at the headquarters of the National University of Sciences, the National Council of Universities (CNU) unanimously approved an Agreement in Defense of National Sovereignty, Peace and the Heritage of the Republic, firmly reaffirming the role of the academy as a bastion of the independence and dignity of the Venezuelan people.

The collegial body expressed its categorical and absolute rejection of the recent statements of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, which were described as a direct threat to the country's territorial integrity and strategic resources.

The agreement emphasizes that the Venezuelan academic community, in its mission to seek the truth and to consolidate the transcendental values of man, cannot remain indifferent to discourses of force that seek to violate the people's self-determination.

Emphatically, the CNU emphasized that the threat of naval military intervention and the attempts to appropriate Venezuelan oil and land constitute a serious national security problem.

In this regard, the agreement urges universities to fulfill their historic duty to guide the country through the doctrinal clarification of these conflicts, by strengthening critical awareness and national unity in the face of any attempt at foreign domination.

With this decision, the university sector reaffirms its historic and inalienable commitment to the formation of conscious citizens and the defense of national independence, as a fundamental basis for the scientific, social and cultural development of future generations.
