Cojedes will host the Women's National Basketball League +45

The second season of the Venezuelan Women's Basketball League +45 will take place starting May 1, with an opening ceremony at the “Federico Sánchez” Gymnasium in Tinaquillo, Cojedes state, where the teams of Lara, Zulia, Aragua, Carabobo, Yaracuy, Falcón and Cojedes will participate.
The details were announced during a press conference by Mariela Villegas, president of the league; Loydi Herrera, secretary of organization, as well as Carla Villasana, in charge of the secretariat, who reported that the event will run until September and will have windows in Cojedes, Carabobo and Zulia.
They highlighted the importance of this League, in addition, they assured that women have demonstrated that Venezuela has great potential in this sports discipline, and that at one point in history they were first-line athletes in national and international championships, but that they are still active on the courts with vigour and a lot of potential.
“Today we want, most of all, to demonstrate that we play sports to plan physical activity for maintaining health, and also with a high spirit of competition for healthy entertainment,” Herrera said.
He highlighted that in the Liga +45 there are women warriors, now professionals, housewives, mothers, who, with their positive attitude and love for sports, show that dreams can be achieved.
As part of this second season, a significant event has been reported, which has generated a lot of expectation, which will be “The All-Star Game”, to be held for the first time, among the most outstanding teams and managers in the league, whose date will be announced in due course.
In parallel with the sports announcement, the state capital, San Carlos, hosted the forum “Origins of Women's Basketball in Cojedes”, Radio Miraflores reported on its website.
It indicates that experts such as Teodoro Bolívar, Gerónimo Rodríguez and the renowned basketball player Érika Galíndez presented findings of an investigation that will culminate this year with the publication of a historic book.
This work will reflect the evolution of basketball in the llanera entity, serving as a model for future national research and ensuring that the legacy of the pioneers of tabloncillo remains alive.
