Colombia: 13 fatalities were registered after the confrontation between the ELN and the FARC

Last Monday, at least 13 victims due to clashes between the National Liberation Army (ELN) and a group of the dissidents of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) in the municipality of Teorama, in the Catatumbo region.

The Colombian press reported that of the 13 bodies, eight were transferred to Cucuta, while the rest were left in the village of San Vicente in the Catatumbo region.

In addition, Telesur explained that an official in the area said that the moment of the removal of the bodies was being monitored by members of the ELN, “who did not allow taking photographs”.

The official stated that “many family members who knew about the participation of their relatives in that armed group, because they were aware of the arrival of their relatives (sic)” and comments that the members of the Police were instructed to transfer the bodies to Legal Medicine.

In the Government of Norte de Santander, clashes between illegal armed groups in the area have left more than 100 dead and 48,004 displaced.
