The representative of Colombia to the United Nations (UN) reiterated the rejection of the government of the New Granada nation against the aggressions and threats of war by the United States (USA) against Venezuela.

Colombia categorically rejects any threat of using force and resorting to factual means as a means to resolve differences,” he emphasized during his speech at the meeting of the UN Security Council held this Tuesday to discuss the dangerous escalation of U.S. aggression against Venezuela.

He noted that U.S. aggressions, “as well as unilateral coercive measures, are not aligned with the Charter of the United Nations or with the decisions of that body,” and he did not hesitate to point out that they “undermine the rule of law and cannot replace dialogue, preventive diplomacy and peaceful dispute resolution mechanisms, which must be the priority in all actions between States.”

In this regard, he affirmed that the Security Council “has the responsibility to raise its voice and promote actions consistent with its mandate to maintain international peace and security”.
