The President of the Republic of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, expressed his support to the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) for the request to arrest the main Israeli authorities for committing crimes against civilians in the Gaza Strip.
Hispantv quoted a note from the government stating that the Colombian president “welcomed the measures of the ICC on the tragedy in Gaza” and said that Khan's announcement “against the main perpetrators of the violation of international law and the commission of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza” is “welcomed”.
According to the Colombian note, the ICC measure equally covers leaders of all parties to the conflict and constitutes a step in the right direction and a significant development in the fight against impunity.
For now, Israel is increasing its offensive in Gaza, in just over seven months more than 35,700 Palestinians have been killed, the ICC prosecutor asked this court last Monday to order the arrest of the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, and his minister of military affairs, Yoav Gallant, for committing crimes against defenceless Palestinians in the coastal enclave.
