The victims of the ongoing criminal proceedings against the father of paramilitarism in Colombia, Álvaro Uribe Vélez, demand that the trial proceed without further delay, after the Bogotá High Court announced that the case will be resumed next Wednesday, after refusing a guardianship of the defense of the former president against the judge in the case, Sandra Liliana Heredia.

Telesur, through journalist Hernán Tobar, in Bogotá, explained that this is the first time that a former Colombian president has taken a trial against him, accused of bribing witnesses and procedural fraud.

The trial began seven years ago and has not yet been resolved; the former president had legal alliances, to the point of prescribing the investigation to delay the prosecution process against him.

In the frustrated hearing, in relation to the trial against Uribe Vélez, the victims' defense will state their position in the face of the delaying maneuver of the legal team of the father of paramilitarism.
