Colombia 's National Intelligence Director (DNI), Jorge Lemus, confirmed that Iván Duque during his administration acquired the Pegasus virus with drug trafficking money and money laundered to spy on governments.

During an interview with a Colombian media outlet, he indicated that “we are certain that it is money laundering.”

Pegasus was created by the Israeli company NSO Group and positioned itself as a high-level spy tool in the world.

Israel noticed the inflow of money; it seems that NSO Group did things legally there; there it did declare the money, the money came in legally, but here, as I say and repeat, it came out illegally. They were committing a crime,” Lemus said.

For its part, the Congress of this country will begin an investigation into the use of this virus against progressive governments in the region, according to a note from Venezuela News.

Pegasus seeks to destabilize progressive governments by intercepting communications to the governments of Gustavo Petro and Nicolás Maduro,” said Senator Antonio Correa.

The Pegasus works through video calls, malicious links that, once installed, can access different data, such as messages, emails, browsing history, location and call logs.
