On September 4, 2012, from the immediate vicinity of the Miraflores Palace in Caracas, the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez, delved into the sale of oil during the Fourth Republic and the looting of transnational corporations.

“From the time of Gómez, until the end of the century when, at least, no less than 40 billion barrels of oil, only they paid a dollar, no, the price was minimal and besides, they didn't pay taxes, the big transnational corporations hardly paid taxes, they looted us,” he said.

At the same time, the Bolivarian leader urged researchers to write a book about this important chapter in the country's history, “the looting of Venezuela, a plunder, hey! Who plundered us? Imperialism and the Venezuelan big bourgeoisie, the masters of the valley, lackeys of imperialism lent themselves to it and used force many times, well, Gómez was the first in the 20th century, and he turned the Army into a particular praetorian thing, one of repression, assassination, persecution and all governments”.

In that sense, he recalled that Isaías Medina was overthrown because, he tried to manage oil, the great Venezuelan wealth “they overthrew him, well, the great Romulo Gallegos also tried to fight against Mr. Dange r, Doña Bárbara, fart, they overthrew him; Carlos Delgado Chalbaud, fart, he was murdered, uh, three examples, ah, Cipriano Castro starting the century, he became ill he went to Europe to have kidney surgery and his compather Gómez betrayed him and handed this country over to The Yankees, because Castro refused that they even invaded Venezuela, the European powers blocked us because he refused to pay.”
