Commemorative activities begin for the 46th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution

This Friday, on the occasion of the 46th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Iran began the celebrations of the Decade of Dawn, which extends from the return of the founder of the Republic, Imam Khomeini, to Tehran on February 1, 1979, to the definitive triumph of the Revolution on February 11 of the same year.

The festivities coinciding with the 12th day of Bahman in the Iranian calendar, from Tehran, motorcycle parades were held that traveled the same route that Khomeini took upon his return from exile, Telesur detailed.

A ceremony was also held at the Mausoleum of Imam Khomeini in Behesht-e Zahra, Tehran's main cemetery. The event was attended by thousands of people, including several senior officials.

For his part, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, paid homage there to Imam Khomeini and recalled the martyrs who fought for the Revolution and during the war imposed by Iraq between 1980 and 1988.
