The Presidential Commission for the Recovery of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) is advancing the conservation and restoration project of the stained glass window created by master Braulio Salazar, located in the auditorium of the former School of Nursing, now the Luis Razetti School of Medicine.
According to a press release from this commission, this work, composed of colored glass blocks, is an emblematic piece of the artistic heritage of the UCV and is currently undergoing the diagnosis and removal of deteriorated pieces, under the supervision of a specialized multidisciplinary team.
In addition, the restoration process includes the technical analysis of parts affected by moisture, fractures or wear. Careful removal of damaged modules for restoration in the workshop. Photographic and structural documentation to ensure fidelity to the original work.
Once the diagnostic phase is over, the restored pieces and structural reinforcement will be replaced, with a view to returning this masterpiece of Venezuelan art to its original splendor.
The stained glass window of the School of Medicine, designed by Salazar, is a work of high historical and aesthetic value, representative of the golden age of university art in Venezuela. Built with colored glass and concrete structures, the piece is harmoniously integrated into the architectural space, reflecting Salazar's vision of art as a transformative element of public environments.
