Communes of the municipality of Veroes de Yaracuy are working to cultivate a thousand hectares of sugar cane by 2027

Producers from four communes in the Veroes municipality of Yaracuy state are working in an organized way to cultivate a thousand hectares of sugar cane by 2027.

As part of the Community Agrifood Plan, the initiative formally began with a first phase of preparing 100 hectares for the development of “sovereign seed” for the next agricultural cycle.

The 100 hectares are divided between the communes: Cañizo Palo Quemado, Ezequiel Zamora, Pueblo Unido Simón Bolívar and José Joaquín Veroes, as reported in the Microfinancial Trading Fund through his Instagram account.

The National Institute for Agricultural Research (INIA) deployed a plan for soil analysis and sampling, essential to guarantee the technical viability of the land and thus guide the proper planting and fertilization processes in each property.

At the same time, a technical commission carried out inspection tasks on seed crops both in Veroes and in the Palmasola municipality of Falcón state, verifying the vegetative material that has the approval of the INIA and that will be distributed in packs of 30 seeds according to the planning of the Community Assemblies.

This seed multiplication strategy seeks to ensure the progressive scaling up of production, aimed at supplying sugar mills and strengthening the communal economy.
