Below is the full text of the document:
The PCE condemns Donald Trump's aggressive and violent policy against Venezuela and calls for social and popular mobilization in defense of sovereignty and peace.
The Communist Party of Spain expresses its strongest condemnation of the decision of the United States government to close the airspace of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, an openly aggressive act for which no State has authority outside its national borders. This action constitutes a flagrant violation of Venezuelan sovereignty and international law, and should arouse the strongest rejection of the international community.
President Donald Trump's decision represents a new step in the escalation of contempt for international norms that characterizes US imperialism. We are facing a very serious increase in threats, military pressure and psychological warfare against the Venezuelan people and government, with incalculable and unpredictable consequences for peace, security and stability in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The PCE clearly affirms that either the peoples unite to face US imperialism, or it will end one by one with anyone who does not abide by its “imperial commands”. History shows that popular unity, mass mobilization and internationalist solidarity are the backbone of stopping imperialist aggression.
For this reason, we call for social and popular mobilization in our country and around the world to denounce this new outrage by the United States against Venezuela and to defend international legality, peace and the sovereignty of peoples. We also express our support and solidarity with the Venezuelan people, their government and the legitimate and constitutional president Nicolás Maduro, in the face of this new offensive that seeks to break institutional stability and advance attempts at destabilization.
The PCE asks the Government of Spain and the European Union to firmly condemn this violation of Venezuelan sovereignty, to reject any unilateral measure contrary to international law and to act in defense of peace and regional stability.
We call on the peoples of the world to denounce this prelude to an illegitimate attack and to reinforce all initiatives of active solidarity with Venezuela and with the sovereign processes that today resist imperialism.
