The Bolivarian Government officially launched the National Sowing Plan 2026, whose goal for the year 2026 contemplates the planting of 10 million trees throughout the national territory under the motto “one tree per family”.

From Chuquisaca Hill, in the Macarao parish, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, together with the president of the Tree Mission and the National Park Institute (INPARQUES), Rosinés Chávez; the Minister for Ecosocialism, Ricardo Molina; and the 5th sector vice-president for Science, Technology, Ecosocialism and Health, and also Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, led the beginning of this day that links the protection of Mother Earth with communal organization.

The Head of State emphasized that this plan requires the creation of communal nurseries in more than 5,300 communes in the country. “Every family, school, student and teacher must join. We are going to install in each commune a nursery that includes medicinal, fruit, ornamental and forest plants, such as our traditional trees: mahogany, ceiba and walnut trees from Caracas,” he instructed.

For her part, Rosinés Chávez, president of the Tree Mission, stressed that this project is a gift for Mother Earth and a commitment of Venezuelan youth. “We are preparing to hold these days at the national level, getting each family to establish their own fruit or medicinal tree in their environment,” he said.

In this sense, the Minister of Ecosocialism, Ricardo Molina, stressed that the magnitude of planting 10 million specimens is only possible through the participation of the active population. “This isn't just done by a ministry or a mayor's office; it's with people in the 5,336 communes. Venezuela has more than 220 fruit species that can be successfully reproduced and planted in our blessed land,” he said.

Minister Gabriela Jiménez highlighted that the Chuquisaca Plan, as this National Planting Plan 2026 is also called, not only seeks to reforest, but also to rescue the ancient medicinal identity of indigenous, Caribbean and Amazonian peoples. “We seek to guarantee the enjoyment of our agrobiodiversity, which has more than 240 national varieties of fruit plants,” he explained.
