This Saturday, the project nomination assembly of the Valles del Suruapay Socialist Commune, and the Los Próceres Community Circuit of the Guanare municipality of the Portuguese state, was held, ahead of the National Popular Consultation on November 23.
The vice-rector for Community Economy of the National University of the Communes (Unacom), Hernán Vargas, described these assemblies as exemplary for the country, while recalling that they will be held over the weekend in the more than 5 thousand Circuits and Communes in the country.
In addition, he told the members of the Valles del Suruapay Commune that the level of progress they have had “is no small thing”. He recalled that before the Bolivarian Revolution arrived, Popular Power did not exist and indicated that there are records of cadastre studies where communities were not registered.
“You have to learn from its history, gringos don't like us using oil for this, and this is socialism. The Government is being built from the same community,” Vargas said.
He reported that from last year to date, the Communes and Community Councils have developed more than 20,000 projects that benefit their own communities.
In this regard, he stated that President Nicolás Maduro is betting on communalizing the election process, that is, having a voting center in each Commune.
Another of the points discussed was the topic of housing and how to generate resources to serve roads with the help of government entities.
Los Próceres Community Circuit
Óscar Molina, director of the Ministry of Communes in the Portuguese state, participated in the presentation of projects of the Los Próceres Community Circuit.
He said that this Circuit has been developing projects effectively and that “it is in full view of everyone (...) President Maduro has called us to return to the assembly issue, which is where collective decisions are made, that's why we're here.”
He mentioned that one of the important points that must be discussed or presented is the Communal Militia as part of the defense of the sovereignty of the Homeland.
On the other hand, the vice-rector for the Municipal Economy, Hernán Vargas, reported that on November 23, the proposed projects will be voted on, and then those that are the winners will be executed by the same community. “The one who decides which projects are going to be implemented is you, the people.”
Finally, Yohana Barrios, spokeswoman for the Community Circuit, welcomed the fact that President Maduro assigned November 23 as the day for the consultation - the President's birthday - so that the people continue to choose their projects in democracy and peace.
“We, through the Commune, will continue to give answers to the people. The communities have been deployed and today we are getting together to deliver the projects that are going to be voted on on November 23,” he concluded.
