The National Telecommunications Commission (CONATEL) coordinates a special technical deployment aimed at progressively restoring connectivity in the so-called “Ground Zero” of the state of La Guaira. This multisectoral initiative is firmly committed to guaranteeing essential communication services and offering an immediate response to the contingency, said Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).
As part of the operational strategies, a joint working table was held between representatives of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the World Food Programme (WFP) and a team of volunteers from Luxembourg. The operator G-Network and the Joint Communications Directorate of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (DICOFANB) also participated in the meeting to define actions in the entity.
This international and local cooperation seeks to take advantage of the fiber optic infrastructure installed in the region to deploy wireless connectivity solutions in an expeditious manner. To optimize the work, the company G-Network, as the local operator of La Guaira, will provide the compatible platform necessary to overcome the massive breakdown in critical areas.
For its part, the Luxembourg delegation will provide technological telecommunications equipment, while CONATEL, in its role as the main coordinator of the sector, will ensure the institutional link and will monitor that the components meet the technical parameters to integrate them correctly into the transport network.
The contingency plan consists of using the fiber optic infrastructure recovered by G-Network to connect wireless Access Points (APs) in places that were left incommunicado. The primary objective of this deployment is to enable stable connections for the civilian population, rescue teams and operational personnel dealing with the emergency on the central coast.
