The National Telecommunications Commission (CONATEL) launched an exceptional regulatory speed plan to allow several internet service providers in the country to establish interconnections with companies in Colombia to guarantee the service.
As explained by CONATEL in a press release, the objective of these actions is to recover service capacity and guarantee communications, especially in the most vulnerable areas.
It is important to note that this measure does not involve the delivery or modification of licenses and concessions regardless of strict requirements. On the contrary, it strictly responds to the spirit of administrative simplification for precise technical projects that provide an immediate solution to connectivity problems, ensuring the resilience of networks under the current legal framework.
It is worth noting that this action was taken after, after the earthquakes of last June 24, a submarine cable belonging to the company Cirion was cut, which affected Internet service in the country.
