The former president of Ecuador, Rafael Corea, condemned the violation of international law by the Government of Daniel Noboa when he attacked the Embassy of Mexico in Quito to forcibly take the former vice-president, Jorge Glas, who had been a refugee in the diplomatic compound of the Aztec country since last December, and who was also granted political asylum this Friday afternoon.

“What the Noboa Government has done is unprecedented in Latin American history. Not even in the worst dictatorships has a country's embassy been violated,” Correa said on the social network X.

He pointed out that his country does not live in a Barbarian State because it is governed by “an improvised person who confuses the Homeland with one of its banana plantations,” he emphasized while holding Daniel Noboa responsible for the safety and physical integrity of Glas.

In addition, he expressed solidarity with the Mexican diplomatic corps, which were attacked by the police forces of Ecuador when the Embassy was raided.

“To Mexico, its people and its Government, our apologies and eternal admiration. Until victory always!” , he ruled.

It should be noted that on Friday night, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico issued a statement expressing the severance of diplomatic relations with Ecuador and will submit the complaint to the International Court of Justice (CIP).
