COV confirms death of Venezuelan Olympic cyclist Daniela Larreal

The Venezuelan Olympic Committee (VOC) confirmed this Friday the death, under circumstances still unknown, of Olympic cyclist and Pan-American champion Daniela Larreal.

“The VOC Board of Directors regrets the departure of Daniela Larreal. With an outstanding career in track cycling, he managed to represent us with honor in five Olympic Games, accumulated four Olympic diplomas and triumphs that always filled us with great pride. May he rest in peace”, says the committee through its account on the social network X.

The 50-year-old rider from Zulia was a Pan-American champion and participated in the Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000, Athens 2004 and London 2012 Olympics.

She was also a two-time champion in the 2014 South American Games, winning gold in the Sprint and Team Sprint modalities. His father, Daniel Larreal, was Pan-American champion in 1971.

So far, the causes of death have not been specified; however, it was announced on social networks that Larreal worked in a hotel in Las Vegas, United States (USA), and his body was found by his co-workers.
