Crime, Drugs, and Funding: The Truth Behind the Violence of Oppositional Extremism

This Monday, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, reported the first data to emerge from the arrests that have been made against elements that generate violence that were deployed in various parts of the country as part of the plan of opposition extremism.

During his speech, the head of state specified that of the detainees it was possible to determine that 80% have criminal records for various crimes committed prior to these events for which they have been captured to be brought to justice. “There will be no impunity!” , emphasized the President.

Another element revealed is that in addition to having a criminal record, 90% of the detainees were under the influence of drugs. “Behind this is Colombian drug trafficking, which injected a lot of money for this,” he said.

He added as an important fact that all investigations point to the fact that a large part of the detainees are people who returned to the country from the United States, on the repatriation flights carried out by the North American nation in coordination with the Venezuelan Government.

“Let no one doubt it; behind this violence are the gringos, there is the United States,” he said.

He indicated that, according to the testimonies of those captured infraganti in terrorist actions, they are receiving payments of 150 dollars by people who give them precise indications of the actions to be undertaken.

“Because of the confessions of these terrorists who gave us details about who coordinated the actions and the payment, we have already identified the masterminds of this violence and we are going after them,” he said.

He recalled that all these actions had been warned throughout the campaign, pointing out that opposition extremism never wanted to participate democratically in the electoral process but used it to structure this entire criminal organization with so-called little commands.

“I warned him. Many times I asked the People if they wanted the guarimbas to return and the People answered no, but many doubted it, well now they are seeing why I said it; we knew what they were preparing, but we are going to defeat them with the Law, the Constitution and the Mobilized People,” he said.
