Crime rates in Monagas decreased by 33%

The governor of the state of Monagas, Ernesto Luna, reported that crime rates in the state decreased by 33 percentage points.

“It's no small thing. It's very easy to say, but you have to see the effort that the public security forces have been making. I recognize the efforts made by our officials to ensure tranquility, peace and protect our people in Monagua,” said Luna.

In this regard, as reported by the newspaper Úlmas Noticias, it stated that during the year 2024, the incidence of cattle theft and theft decreased by 60% in the state of Monagas.

As for traffic accidents, he reported an increase of 29% and detailed that motorcycle accidents increased by 66%, from 362 in 2023 to 602 in 2024.

Other indicators show that crashes decreased by 14% and vehicle collisions by 11%.

Luna also provided a balance of the deaths due to road accidents that occurred during that period, highlighting that, out of 10 deaths in 2023, there was an increase of more than 150% in 2024, with a total of 25 deaths.

Faced with this situation, the governor reported that he will be more rigorous in complying with the law.
