The Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, strongly rejected the recent appointment of the Donald Trump administration that describes Venezuela as a “foreign terrorist organization”, calling it “a new arbitrary, fraudulent, unilateral and politically motivated act.”
Rodríguez Parrilla questioned the moral legitimacy of the United States to issue such accusations: “What moral does the U.S. government have for these designations, when it protects and funds terrorist organizations in its territory, refuses to collaborate with neighboring countries such as Cuba in matters of terrorism and speaks openly of covert actions and sabotage by the CIA against Venezuelan infrastructure?”
The Cuban foreign minister pointed out that these actions only seek to isolate the Bolivarian Revolution internationally, increase pressure on Caracas and “escalate into an aggression with unpredictable consequences for peace, security and stability in Latin America and the Caribbean.”
“All our solidarity and support to the Venezuelan people and Government in the face of this infamous barbarism,” Rodríguez Parrilla concluded. Cuba's firm stance in the face of Trump's statements once again places the island against U.S. interference in Latin American affairs and the United States' disrespect for the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, signed in Havana in 2014.
