Cuba calls for an international mobilization to defend Venezuela's sovereignty

In a statement issued this Thursday, October 9, by the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the authorities called for mobilizing the international community in the face of the threat that the United States wants to impose against Venezuela.

“Cuba makes a new call to mobilize the international community to stop a war action against Venezuela. Once again, we declare our firm and unwavering support for the Bolivarian and Chavista Government of Venezuela and for the Popular and Military Unity of the Venezuelan people. Latin America and the Caribbean must remain a Zone of Peace,” the statement said.

He also stressed that the pretexts that Washington presents to justify its military intervention in the nation led by the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, cannot be legally accepted.

Cuba has been warning about the growing escalation of the United States government against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, whose obvious purpose is to overthrow the constitutional government of President Nicolás Maduro Moros, and to install a subservient government that will make oil, other important natural resources and even the sovereignty of that sister nation available to the United States.

After the illegal destruction at sea of vessels supposedly dedicated to drug trafficking, but of unknown composition and destination, and the murder of their crew members, the threat of the use of force against Venezuela is increased with the announcements of a new phase of escalation that would include military actions against land objectives.

The pretexts used for this extraordinary and irrational military deployment by the United States are unfounded and rest on falsehoods. It cannot be legally or morally accepted in any way that such pretexts are the basis for carrying out military aggression against a sovereign State. The dangers to the peace, security and stability of Our America are real and imminent.

The Venezuelan government has warned of a frustrated plan to attack the United States Embassy in Caracas with explosives, organized by a sector of the Venezuelan extreme right, in search of a pretext for US military forces on the high seas to act in response to the alleged terrorist attack against its diplomatic headquarters. It would not be the first time that the United States has resorted to this type of maneuver to justify military aggression.

The promoters of the war, such as the current Secretary of State and the anti-Cuban congressmen in Florida, irresponsibly threaten to unleash the military power of the United States against a sovereign nation of Our America, as if it were a neighborhood police raid.

Cuba makes a new call to mobilize the international community to stop a war action against Venezuela.

Once again, we declare our firm and unwavering support for the Bolivarian and Chavista government of Venezuela and for the Popular and Military Unity of the Venezuelan people. Latin America and the Caribbean must remain a Zone of Peace.
