The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, Elio Rodríguez Perdomo, denounced that the Caribbean nation has suffered incalculable human harm in more than 60 years.

During the 89th plenary session of the 78th session of the United Nations (UN), the Cuban diplomat said that economically the blockade has impacted more than 159 billion dollars.

“The most severe system of unilateral coercive measures that has been prolonged and that has ever been applied against any nation, more than 80% of the current Cuban population has been born under the economic, commercial and financial blockade,” he emphasized.

He described the blockade as a massive and fragrant violation of human rights, while stressing that the United States also attacks countries that are characterized by being free and sovereign.

He assured that Cuba does not stand firm despite the sanctions and will not relinquish its sovereignty.
