The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, described as “unacceptable” the threats and military aggression that the United States Government is preparing against Venezuela with the objective of overthrowing President Nicolás Maduro.

“The interference, threats and military aggression being prepared by the United States against Venezuela to overthrow its legitimate Government is unacceptable,” wrote the Cuban president on the social network X.

Díaz-Canel highlighted that gunboat politics and the Monroe Doctrine are part of a neocolonial past, while Latin America and the Caribbean are recognized as a zone of peace, in accordance with the proclamation approved in 2014 by the Second Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.

The actions of the United States have been rejected by several countries in the region, including Nicaragua and Colombia.
