This Friday, the Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Fernández de Cossío, reiterated his willingness to maintain a respectful relationship with the United States and pointed out that the dialogue will not involve changes in the political system.

The vice-foreign minister stressed that the Cuban political system is not negotiated either with the United States or with any other country, and added that there are numerous aspects of interest to both nations that could be discussed, such as those relating to regional security and cooperation to combat drug trafficking.

In this context, he denounced the blockade policy maintained by the U.S. government for 70 years, which has had a destructive impact on Cubans.

“When there is aggression against a country, which is not military in nature, but causes physical harm and harm to people's daily lives, it is a ruthless policy,” he stressed.

Likewise, Fernández stressed that Cuba is not an enemy of the United States, it poses a threat to that nation, “our desire is to have a respectful relationship” with Washington, he said.
