The mayor of the Simón Bolívar de
Anzoátegui municipality, Sugey Herrera, officially announced the program of the Barcelona Cultural and Tourism
Carnival 2026, an agenda designed for the
enjoyment of the family, the promotion of entrepreneurs and the projection of regional talent.
From the emblematic Libertadores Square,
he indicated that the festivities will start on Friday, February 13 with the
school parade, in which 301 educational institutions will participate. The tour will begin
on 5 de Julio Boulevard and will end on Miranda Avenue.
Also, on Friday the 13th,
Libertadores Square will be dressed up to choose the Queen of Grandparents and
Grandmothers, to recognize the wisdom and vitality of our older adults.
On Saturday 14th, the city will continue with the
troupes and parades, which already have more than 80 registered participants. At
sunset, starting at 7:00 p.m., the election of the
Queen of Carnival and San Celestino will take place, an event that will be adorned with outstanding musical performances.
For Sunday 15 and Monday 16, the parades
will remain the protagonists, while the nights in
Libertadores Square will become a platform for the talent of local, regional and national artists.
Mayor Herrera called on “
entrepreneurial entrepreneurs to join this program”, noting that within the framework of these festivities, the 5th edition of
“Barcelona Has a Flavor” will also be held, where the best hot dog
in the
municipality will be chosen, an initiative that strengthens local commerce.
The municipal government will deploy
sports and recreational festivals in natural areas such as San Pedrito, La Planchada and
Playa Pepe, under the coordination of the Municipal Tourism Corporation.
“It is
important to highlight that we will have more than 350 officials deployed to
ensure the safety of all Barcelonans, as well as there will be service
points in key spaces to help with their hydration and care,”
he said and stressed that the city council's workforce will
actively participate in the parades with a float that seeks to promote values and Venezuelanism.
