After more than 276 years, the Dancing Devils of Yare performed their emblematic dance of surrender before the Blessed Sacrament, from the city of San Francisco de Yare, Simón Bolívar municipality of Miranda state, a manifestation of faith and religiosity whose objective this year is to call for world peace.

The tour was accompanied by the governor of Miranda, Elio Serrano, who joined the call for world peace, in the midst of conflicts in the Middle East and global tensions. “Today we ask for the Blessed Sacrament not only for our state and for Venezuela, but for the entire planet. In these times of war, we cry out for peace among the peoples of the world, for conflicts to cease and fraternity to reign,” he said.

For her part, Miranda's Secretary of Culture, Gabriela Simoza, highlighted the importance of keeping this religiosity alive in times of adversity. “In times of war and darkness, Venezuela is a light for peace, a guide for a world of love and fraternity. With our religious and cultural traditions, we sow hope in our peoples,” he emphasized.

More than 1,500 devils participated in the central procession, after fulfilling their promise to surrender to the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar, in an act that symbolizes the victory of good over evil.

The celebration of the Dancing Devils of Yare is thus consolidated, once again, as a living symbol of Venezuelan popular spirituality, where faith, culture and tradition are combined in one of the most emblematic expressions in the country, according to the Ministry for Culture.
