Danish citizens demonstrated in Copenhagen to denounce the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, following the military bombings launched by the United States on January 3. The participants reiterated their call for immediate release and held Donald Trump responsible for the operation that holds both leaders hostage.

The march went to the United States embassy, where spokespersons for social organizations rejected the threats of the American president and questioned the use of military force against Venezuela. During the demonstration, participants expressed their support for Cuba, Mexico, Greenland and other countries that have been subject to pressure from Washington.

Since the beginning of the events, on January 3, Danish groups have organized several demonstrations to demand respect for Venezuelan sovereignty and the right of peoples to decide without interference. Every day they have called for an end to military actions, threats and any attempt to impose force on independent nations, a note from Venezolana de Televisión (VTV) reported.

The same day, the Danish authorities called for the reduction of tensions and stressed that the US operation constitutes a violation of the international legal framework.
