Daniela Rivera gave Venezuela the first gold in sailing competitions, in the regional Dinghy category, a crew member at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games off the coast of Playa Salinas in Santo Domingo.
The Venezuelan won 70% of the preliminary races (4P, 5P, 6P, 8P, 9P, 10P and F1), totaling 19 net points and 23 totals that secured her the top of the competition and qualification for the 2027 Pan American Games.
The silver medal was won by Trinidadian Kelly Arrindel, while the bronze medal went to Colombian Ana Bermúdez.
Rivera beat Arrindell by 6 net points and Bermudez by 8, thanks to his regularity starting in the middle of the tournament with three victories.
National sailing also won a bronze medal through Carenys Salazar in the IQFoil competition, accumulating 34 net points. The gold went to Aruba's Zara Roseboom with 15 points and the silver was won by Mexico's Mariana Aguilar with 29.
