The hearing-impaired basketball team scored 114-32 against Chinese Taipei with a record advantage so far in the competition to get their second win in Group A and secure qualification to the quarterfinals of the Tokyo 2025 Deaf Olympic Games.
The Venezuelan team took to the court of the Ota-City General Gymnasium with Rodrigo Ríos, Jhonny Jiménez, Brayan Catarí, Gregori Borges and Captain Félix Perdomo, who made a difference of 35-3 thanks to the consecutive three-pointers of Borges, Ernesto Malaver and Catarí.
In the second quarter, the national team started erratic until Crespo returned to uncover the offensive by scoring three free throws. From there, Perdomo, Malaver and Diego Cova added more points with their penetrations to the basket to leave the set at 53-15.
The three-pointers fell again in the third quarter with a couple of bombs from Perdomo, while the theft of balls made it easier for Borges and Crespo to place easy trays without much opposition. Cova closed the period with another two-point conversion to extend the score 83-25.
Although the match was decided, Venezuela maintained the defensive pressure that helped it steal up to 22 balls, and controlled both boards with a total of 66 rebounds, 43 defensive and 23 offensive, while getting 40 assists.
