In the context of the Essequibo complaint, the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, reported that the Guyanese government is losing the mask of a “victim”, who wanted to sell to public opinion and has purchased an ocean patrol boat to France, a measure that seeks to intimidate Venezuela in the midst of bilateral tensions.
Through his account on the social network X, he emphasized that “the false victim Guyana buys ocean patrol boat from a French company. Guyana, together with the United States, its Western partners and its former colonial master constitute a threat to peace in our region.”
He added that “Venezuela will continue to be vigilant of these actions by Guyana and will persist on the path of international legality,” while announcing that Venezuela will continue to reveal the historical truth about the Essequibo.
In his message, Rodríguez attached a link to a press release, with the announcement of the Guyanese army brigade chief, Omar Khan, who said that the vessel they will buy from France will strengthen the Coast Guard's capacity to carry out surveillance and monitoring of the “exclusive economic zone”, which is actually in dispute with Venezuela, as well as to respond to search and rescue missions, help ships in danger and control the harmful risk of pollution maritime.
For his part, Finance Minister Ashni Singh said that the ship represents the latest step in realizing Guyanese President Irfaan Ali's vision and commitment to ensure that Guyan has a modern army.
