The Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, reiterated this Thursday that the transfer of 238 Venezuelan migrants from the United States (USA) to El Salvador represents “a great illegality, it is a kidnapping”, and confirmed that the National Executive will do what is necessary to bring them back to the country.

During the collection of signatures in Defense of Migrants, from Plaza Bolívar in Caracas, Rodríguez criticized that they took “to a kind of concentration camp, a maximum-security prison, some people who have not committed a single crime in the territory of El Salvador, nor have they committed a crime in the territory of the United States.”

“Imagine the greater degree of anti-legal barbarity that has happened here and that these governments have committed. We are requesting the information. The government of El Salvador is bound by international conventions, by the Vienna Convention, it is obliged to provide information to the Venezuelan Government about these Venezuelan citizens illegitimately, arbitrarily, deprived of their liberty, who are in a maximum security prison just because they are migrants,” he said.

In this regard, he pointed out that Salvadoran President Najib Bukele “has to explain to the world why being a migrant is being a criminal, why being Venezuelan is a criminal. That doesn't make any sense, it doesn't make any logic, and it doesn't have any legal basis or legal basis either. So they must provide information,” he emphasized.
