Delcy Rodríguez: One of the objectives of the 2024 guarimbas was the State security forces

The Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, during the meeting of the National Defense Council and Council of State, assured that during the 2024 guarimbas one of the main objectives were the State security forces and their representatives.

In this regard, he explained that “74% of the injured people are civil servants, that is, the plan contemplated and had a strategic objective, which was to attack civil and police officials.”

In addition, he said that with regard to attacks on public goods, “the number that stands out the most is that of attacks on security facilities, educational centers, health centers, public transport units, public transport units, food centers, electoral centers, headquarters of public administration institutions, including the Miraflores Palace”.

Rodríguez assured that these actions are not new, since they are part of the actions of post-electoral fascism; so he reported that between 1999 and 2019 almost 300 people were killed in the guarimbas “and more than 1500 health, transport, electricity, drinking water and fuel institutions (...) it is a behavior that is repeated, but that in 2024 it had a very special concentration”.
