Abigail Spanberger was elected governor of Virginia after overtaking Winsome Earle-Sears with more than 55% of the vote. In New Jersey, Mikie Sherrill won the majority against Republican Jack Ciattarelli and will take office in January 2026. In New York, Zohran Mamdani became the city's first Muslim mayor.
