The deputy to the National Assembly (AN) Jorge Arreaza expressed his support for the Great National Pilgrimage called to demand an end to sanctions during his participation in the program Together But Not Revueltos, broadcast by Venezuela News.
He pointed out that these measures, applied by the United States Government outside international law, have limited the country's development and have even generated effects on U.S. sectors.
Arreaza said that there is a change in Washington's position. “In a very sui generis way, the United States has rectified, it is rectifying its policy towards Venezuela,” he said.
He recalled that Venezuela is the region's main oil producer and the United States is the largest energy consumer, so he considered it necessary to resume relations with clear rules. In this context, he supported the call for a national pilgrimage for peace and the lifting of sanctions.
The parliamentarian indicated that he has noted the extent of the mobilizations linked to the pilgrimage process. He stressed that in states such as Zulia, political, economic, academic and social sectors participated, demonstrating the incorporation of various territorial forces.
He clarified that this initiative does not respond to partisan structures. He explained that this is a call promoted by the president in charge Delcy Rodríguez for the country's communities to demand the lifting of sanctions. “The time has come to listen to them all, to have the tolerance and patience to accept differences and work on them,” he said.
On the Amnesty Law for Democratic Coexistence, Arreaza recalled that forgiveness processes have been part of republican history. He pointed out that each amnesty has effects on political life and affirmed that the rule approved this year will contribute to a period of institutional stability.
Asked about the impact of this stability on the economy, he indicated that investment requires clear conditions. “For domestic and international investment to be established, there must be political security, legal security and economic security,” he said.
He added that these conditions are being built and that the political debate must take place in the field of ideas. “The Constitution opens up spaces for us to confront each other in the world of ideas and not in the world of weapons,” he said.
Arreaza said that the President-in-Charge and the political high command are moving in that direction. “They are very clear about it and will do everything that is necessary,” he said.
