The president of the Permanent Committee on Culture and Recreation, Deputy Cristóbal Jiménez (PSUV/National), proposed the creation of the Venezuelan Cultural Code.
During the regular meeting of the commission, this Wednesday, Jiménez argued that this code must emerge from the current laws of the sector and from the nine bills that the parliamentary body is working on, in order to promote Venezuela and cultural traditions.
He explained that the commission is carrying out comparative law work to evaluate penalties in the cultural field in Venezuela and the world. He also announced that he will submit this proposal to the Board of Directors of the AN, to the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro; and to the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture and Recreation, in order to evaluate competencies, relevance and feasibility.
He also specified that the commission agreed to create a route of action to move forward with the reform projects of the law for the Protection and Defense of Cultural Heritage; and for the Social Protection of Cultural Workers, to be taken to the Plenary before the end of the first legislative term.
“We are working on these two laws on the occasion of the launch of the Viva Venezuela Mission, my Beloved Homeland, and in the first option is the Law for the Protection and Defense of Cultural Heritage, since there is joy throughout the territory. It was a great idea for the First Magistrate, and from here on, we are going to accompany him with the laws,” Jiménez said after assuring that these proposals will complement the protection and defense of the cultor.
The deputy explained that the reform of the Law on Social Protection and Development of Cultural Workers aims to guarantee the implementation of the comprehensive social protection policy for the working class and to have the necessary means for its total development.
The study and development of these two legal proposals are assisted by the lawyers of the Directorate of Research and Legal Advice of the National Assembly, Benilde Liendo and Marlene Saavedra, as well as technicians from the General Directorate of Citizen Participation and the Directorate of Culture, who made their contributions and proposals to enrich these legislative initiatives.
