The deputy to the National Assembly (AN), Genesis Garvett, stated that the “Great Pilgrimage United for a Venezuela without Sanctions and in Peace” represents an act of identity and spirituality to ask for peace in the Republic and, in turn, to demand the lifting of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States and the European Union (EU).

“This activity is a great space for meeting and national unity of different sectors. For example, this Saturday political parties from the Bloc de la Patria and the opposition joined this union of Venezuelans,” Garvett said during a Special Program broadcast on Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).

He recalled that it has not been easy for the Bolivarian Revolution to steer the helm of the country under unilateral coercive measures; however, he stressed that since 2015, “heroic work and a lot of sacrifice” has been done between the People and the Government.

“We are invited to this Great Pilgrimage for young people, workers, mothers and older adults because it is a national sentiment for liberation from sanctions. This Sunday, April 19, we will depart from the state of Zulia, Amazonas and Táchira. Then, the other states will join in various activities,” he said.

For her part, internationalist Elizabeth Pereira asserted that to guarantee peace and economic development in Venezuela, there must be a total lifting of unilateral coercive measures.

“When we counted the more than a thousand sanctions against Venezuela, nearly 800 were from the financial sector,” he stressed.

He added that to stimulate a better energy relationship between Venezuela and countries in the region, sanctions must be eliminated. He considered that this fact would allow investors to operate with greater peace of mind and not suffer secondary sanctions from the US.

Pereira stressed that the president in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, has been committed to peace since January 3rd, consolidates a space of union and persists in her request to the United States for the total lifting of unilateral coercive measures against the country.
