The second vice-president of the Permanent Commission for the Communes, deputy Juan Carlos Sierra, stressed that the National Assembly (AN) is moving forward in the second discussion of the reform of the laws of Popular Power, which promotes the comprehensive system of defense of the Fatherland and is under debate in the street, in the exercise of participatory and leading democracy.

During an interview on the Al Aire program, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, Sierra reported that there are three laws that are under reform: the Public and Popular Planning Act, the Popular Communicators Act and the Community Justice of Peace Act, enacted since 2012 and that “now enter a new phase”.

He stressed that November 15 is a “milestone date for all the community members of the Venezuelan people, since we are committed to delivering this set of approved laws.”

Sierra said that communities carry out the process of consulting the Law of Justice of Communal Peace, which has to do with the exercise of popular democracy and the capacity of the People to self-regulate, prevent and resolve everyday problems in their own communities and it is a law that they work together with the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ).

“We have had a formal and substantive debate about the communal role, in terms of administering justice and that from the commune we can choose the judges of the peace to ensure that in the community we have a clear profile of them,” he said.

He also stated that the AN is on the street accompanied by its president, Jorge Rodríguez, who accompanies the “agenda of dialogue with political parties, movements and electoral organizations that have a political accent for the reform of the Organic Law on Electoral Processes.”
