The Deputy Minister for the Development of Information and Communication Technologies, Raúl Hernández, specified that after the results of the Presidential Election of July 28, more than 100 institutions have reported cyberattacks across the country.
He also reported that these people or groups with international interests have already been identified, during the interview given to the Al Aire program, which broadcasts Venezolana de Televisión.
“We have identified this type of person or groups, with international interests that have been attacking all our web portals or our public administration systems, and we already have more than 100 institutions that have reported the attacks,” he said.
In this regard, he assured that these groups are financed by imperialist interests through United States security agencies, which are taxed by other intelligence agencies, such as the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) or large telecommunications corporations.
He asserted that these names also correspond to the Meta Group, which are part of the social networks: Facebook and Instagram, as well as X, whose main owner is the South African businessman, Elon Musk, among other owners of digital platforms.
“We have identified denial of service attacks in a large percentage,” he emphasized.
He also noted that other types of cyberattacks have been detected, such as an extension of DNS, a domain name server that specifically affects a web portal, such as vtv.com.ve.
He stressed that currently there are different private sectors that have been attacked, and we have reports that private banking is being attacked every day. “Through their security protocols, they are repelling attacks,” he added.
On the other hand, Hernández called for the use of free software operating systems to avoid being affected by cyberattacks.
He reported that a structured national plan is being worked on, through the Great Science, Technology and Innovation Mission “Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán”.
“We need to promote the use of free technology operating systems. If the user has private systems such as Windows on their computer, they will be subject to great vulnerabilities,” he said.
In addition, he commented that with free software operating systems, although there are vulnerabilities, they are more controlled. “We need to continue to promote the use of free technology operating systems to protect ourselves,” he said.
Hernández said that Venezuela has specialists who work on the development of different platforms, using free software operating systems; also with digital ecosystems of its own applications, such as the Canaima Operating System.
