Deputy Minister Jimmy Berríos: The BDT became one of the leaders of the National Financial System

The Deputy Minister of Digital Economy, Banking, Insurance and Securities of the Ministry of the People's Power of Economy and Finance, Jimmy Berríos, assured that the Workers' Digital Bank (BDT) has become one of the leading institutions of the Venezuelan Financial System.
During his participation in the 1st. BDT 360° National Meeting: Connecting the Future of Business, held at the headquarters of the Workers' Digital Bank in Caracas, Berríos highlighted the efforts and achievements of the financial institution to offer innovative digital banking to Venezuelans, through the use of electronic channels, according to Prensa BDT.
In his speech, he recalled that in 2019, when it was Banco Bicentenario del Pueblo, it ranked 21st in the Venezuelan Commercial and Universal Banking System (SBCU), representing a minimum of 0.1% of the market share.
“Currently, the latest published balance sheet places BDT in eighth place in the ranking, with cumulative profits that represent almost 10% of the total participation rate,” he said.
In addition, for December 2024, it rose to sixth place, with financial revenues of 1,627.1 million bolivars; its share in the gross credit portfolio market also increased significantly, ending 2024 with 6,827.09 million bolivars.
The aforementioned event brought together regional leaders of the financial institution, who shared experiences and new proposals to continue positioning BDT in the Top 10 of the most important banks in the country.
For his part, the president of the BDT, Sergio Lotartaro, pointed out: “We are meeting here at the right time to state our concerns, propose changes and refine the necessary details, to plant a future where we are synonymous with opportunity and accessibility for all workers.”
He added that it is necessary to continue to guarantee credit policy, to offer quality products, aligned with the digitalization and innovation of banking, following the guidelines of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, and to bet on greater participation in the foreign exchange market to contribute to the Good Life of Venezuelans.
