The governor of the state of Táchira, Freddy Bernal, confirmed the capture of 6 Colombian and Venezuelan paramilitaries in the Pedro María Ureña municipality of this entity bordering Colombia who intended to carry out terrorist actions in the National Electrical System with the intention of generating a blackout in 6 states of the country.

“I denounce to the people of Venezuela and the International Community, especially the more than 700 international observers who have come to monitor the transparency of the electoral process tomorrow, Sunday, July 28, that we have dismantled a gang that intended to carry out terrorist acts against the Regional and National Electricity System, which were arrested at the Ureña electrical substation to blow up the transformers and leave Táchira, Mérida, Trujillo, Barinas, Apure, Zulia and Yaracuy without electricity”, Bernal said.

The president of Tachira pointed out that this finding was achieved thanks to the intelligence work of the popular power that in the early hours of July 27, through a telephone call, they reported the entry of people outside the electrical substation, which activated patrol units that, upon being present at this facility, found these subjects in flagrante delicto.

“These terrorists intended to dismantle the electrical substation and blow up the transformers, which would result in a cascade effect at the San Antonio, San Cristóbal, El Corozo, Uribante, La Vueltosa, San Agatón and Yaracuy stations, leaving Táchira, Mérida, Trujillo, Barinas, Apure, Zulia and Yaracuy without power supply,” Bernal reported.

He added that this action dealt a certain blow to terrorism and guaranteed that no one will disturb our peace, because in the entity there is a firm government that has control of the state and that will prevent any destabilizing attempt.
