The Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, denied that the United States government was waging any war to combat drug trafficking, on the contrary, he assured, that they support the transfer of illegal substances, since that nation is the largest consumer of drugs in the world.

“The United States is the world's largest drug user and Colombia is the world's largest producer. Let's see how much Afghanistan produced of opium and how it increased with the arrival of the United States. Let's see how much drug Colombia produced and how much it began to produce after the installation of seven North American military bases,” he said during the podcast Sin Truco Ni Maña, which he hosts with the deputy Tania Díaz.

He also highlighted that the DEA, despite being sold as an anti-drug agency, is part of the structure for drug trafficking. In this regard, he indicated that Venezuela was only able to make progress in the fight against this scourge after the expulsion of the North American body from our territory.

“The DEA was coming to Venezuela and saying: We're going to make a controlled delivery. That was when CONACUID existed and they were people who collaborated on controlled deliveries. That's a lie, it was DEA traffic. They took out the drugs and never captured anyone,” Cabello recalled.
