This coming Thursday, May 29, the documentary Kueka: Ancestral Memory will be released in movie theaters throughout Venezuela, as announced through their account on the social network Instagram.

“Come with us to discover the Gran Sabana, the oldest territory on planet Earth, with its tepuyes, its waterfalls and its people who have lived there for more than 4 thousand years. We invite you to relive the kidnapping of grandmother Kowai Kueka and the challenges that the Pemón people faced to achieve their return to the side of Amoko Kueka, their ancestral grandfather,” the organizers of the event highlighted on the social network.

They also highlighted that the film “invites us to learn the language of the Pemón Taurepán people, spiritual guardians of the Gran Sabana, and to celebrate their sacred songs and their Caribbean warrior spirit”.

In 1994, Kueka stone was declared a Natural World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, Unesco. It was extracted from its place of origin, Santa Cruz de Mapaurí, Bolivar state; in 1998 by the plastic artist, Wolfang von Schwarzenfeld, to form his sculptural installation called Global Stone in the Tiergarten metropolitan park, in Berlin, Germany. In April 2020, the sacred symbol returned to Venezuela.
