Dozens of babies have fallen ill in the Netherlands allegedly after ingesting Nutrilon infant formula, reports RTL Nieuws. Around 30 parents contacted the media with concerns, stating that their babies experienced vomiting, diarrhea, stomach aches; some even pointed out that their children had to be hospitalized after being fed with the product manufactured by the company Danone.

Wieke van der Vossen, from the country's Nutrition Center, recognizing the parents' concern, noted that it cannot be confirmed that babies will get sick because of formula.

Meanwhile, Danone announced the recall of a total of 44 batches of 14 types of its infant formulas nationwide.

The recall comes after concerns that the products may contain high levels of cereulide toxin, associated with symptoms such as nausea and vomiting.

The measure comes less than a month after the company Nestlé recalled some infant formulas from the global market due to concerns about possible contamination with the same toxin.

The company explained that the recall is preventive and that it was carried out in consultation with the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA), in addition to clarifying that there are no confirmed cases linking diseases to Nutrilon products.
