The country's Public Defense will activate legal advisory teams to serve the prison population in all judicial boarding schools and preventive detention centers in Venezuela, announced the general public defender, Daniel Ramírez.
“We want to announce that starting in October we will begin a process of visits to all judicial boarding schools and preventive detention centers, with all our public defenders,” Ramírez said in statements collected by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN).
Ramírez announced that the new service cycle will remain active throughout the last quarter of 2024, to expand their work in the 60 offices they have throughout the country.
“And we are going to settle in October, in November and December, in a work that we have already been carrying out together with all the institutions of the justice system,” added the national head of Public Defense, an autonomous institution responsible for guaranteeing the right to defense and due process to all people who require it.
“We are also installing the Offices for the Care of the Prisoner of Liberty in all judicial boarding schools. We are going to have public defenders on a permanent basis, within each boarding school,” he said.
